Madhubani painting is a style of painting particular to the Mithila region of Bihar state in Eastern India
Madhubani paintings has been done traditionally by the women of villages. The painting was traditionally done on freshly plastered mud wall of huts, but now it is mainly done on cloth, hand-made paper and canvas.

The paintings are very distinct in style and appearance due to the use of rich vibrant colors, intricate line-work and stylized treatment of subjects. They are always hand-drawn and the the colours are applied flat with no
shading.
